Ambalapuzha which is situated at a distance of 14 km from Alleppey presents amazing sightseeing options. Sreekrishna Temple, built in the traditional Kerala style attracts tourists not just because of its religious association but also for its marvelous architectural features.
Another interesting tourist spot is Karumadikkuttan which is located 3km east of Ambalapuzha. The Karumadikkuttan statue here which is apparently built in 10th century makes for an interesting visit. This black granite figure of the Buddha is something worth watching.
Champakulam is also a place worth visiting. It is a water logged village and has famous St. Mary Forane Church which has been built in 427 A D. Nadubhagum and Champakulam snake boats famous for their participation in the annual snake boat races can also be seen here.
About 22 km from Alappuzha near Cherthala is the St. Andrew’s Church which is popularly known as Arthunkal Church. At Kayamkulam, there is Krishnapuram Palace built by Travancore King, Marthanda Varma in 18th century.
For shopping at Alleppey, there are options such as coir products along with pepper, coconut oil, areca nut, cardamom, sugar, etc .
For reaching Alleppey, one take flights to Kochi. Kochi at a distance of 64 km is the nearest airport to Alleppey. It is also well connected through waterways. There are boats as well as ferry services linking the Alleppey with Cochin, Kottayam, Kavalam, Changanassery and Chengannur. Alleppey is connected to rest of the osith India via NH 47.
