Dandeli Anshi Tiger Reserve is situated in the Karwar District of Uttara Kannada which is the northern-most district of Karnataka state. The town of Dandeli is located on the River Kali. The reserve is consisted of merged area of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary and Anshi National Park as well as of various adjacent forests. It is spread across an area of 875 sq. km. Being the fourth tiger reserve of Karnataka, Dandeli – Anshi was declared a tiger reserve in the year of 2006-2007. Along with this, it also has been recognised as Hornbill reserve and Crocodile reserve.
Apart from spotting exotic fauna and flora, tourists can also engage themselves in various adventures activities. Some of the sports options available at the reserve are from jungle safari, trekking, rappelling, fishing, boating, swimming, bird watching, coracle rides, white water rafting, canoeing and sailing.
There are few interesting places for sightseeing as well. Naghjari viewpoint, Ulavi, Syntheri rocks, Maulangi, Kulgi nature camp, Shanmukha viewpoint, Vincholli falls, Magod falls, Supa dam, Supa catchment area, Ganeshgudi, etc. are few of the places worth visiting.

The main varieties of forests at the reserve are deciduous, evergreen and rain forests. One can find wide varieties of teak, bamboo, canes and climbers.
Fauna @ Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve
Some of the commonly spotted mammals at the reserve are tiger, elephant, leopard, dhole, spotted deer, sambar, barking deer, gaur and mouse deer. Various kinds of reptiles can also be seen. Some of these are Malabar pit viper, hump-nosed pit viper, bamboo pit viper, krait, ornate flying snake, wolf snake, marsh crocodile, gliding lizard, king cobra, Russel’s viper, etc.
Various kinds of birds like Pompador Pigeon, Emerald Dove, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Paradise Fly Catcher, Malabar Trogon, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Great Pied Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Ceylon Frogmouth, beautifully add on to the rich fauna of the place. Along with various avian species, the reserve has umpteen numbers of butterflies as well. Some of these are malabar tree nymph, southern birdwing, blue mormon, crimson rose, common rose, cruiser, common map, tigers, bush browns, oak leaf, clipper, tailed jay, red Helen, etc.

- By air: Some of the nearby airports are Hubli which is 75 km away and Goa which is at a distance of 150 km. These are connected to the rest of the country.
- By rail: The nearest railway station is Alnavar which is at a distance of 32 km which is connected to Bangalore railway station and Goa. Another nearby railway station is Londa which is about 48 km away.
- By Road: There are many buses running to Dandeli from places like Bangalore, Mumbai, Goa, Belgaum, Karwar, Dharwad and Hubli.
